You Don't Have to Pray Just Because Somebody Asks You To

After several bad things happened to me and people I loved, I found myself emotionally spent. Self-care kept me from avoiding a breakthrough, but I drew a line in the sand: I had to figure out how to be empathetic for people and their problems without burning out.

My husband knew I was looking for a solution, and told me about this podcast episode from Ransomed Heart (John Eldredge). It was a godsend.

The answer, as it turns out, is to ask Jesus (surprise, surprise). He'll tell you yes to some things, and no to other things. If you have the opposite problem (you need a revival of empathy), Jesus can do that, too.

My favorite part is where one of the hosts explains you don't have to pray for people on group texts. #christianpraisehands

I have a whole new lease on life now. Do you struggle with empathy?
